An environmental activist from Extinction Rebellion occupies a veteran oak tree in order to try to prevent HS2 engineers from carrying out tree felling works for the high-speed rail project. The activists were successful in preventing any of the scheduled tree felling by HS2 and after an intervention by a police officer all tree felling and strimming work has now been cancelled for the weekend.
