A large policing operation involving the Metropolitan Police, Thames Valley Police, City of London Police and Hampshire Police as well as the National Eviction Team was put in place to enable HS2 to remove the tree.

Swan, an environmental activist from HS2 Rebellion, and her possessions fall suddenly as her safety line above the shallow river Colne is released by police officers from an ancient alder tree to which she had been attached for almost fourteen hours in an attempt to protect it from destruction during works for the HS2 high-speed rail link. Officers from Hampshire Police Marine Support Unit look on. An activist had been hospitalised when a safety line had been released in this way the previous day.

Metropolitan Police Territorial Support Group vehicles arrive at Heathrow Immigration Removal Centre to attend to a disturbance within the Harmondsworth wing which followed a substantial power outage. According to reports, a group of detainees left their rooms in the early hours of the morning and entered a courtyard armed with weaponry. No one was hurt during the disturbance at the detention centre which is managed by Mitie. Police, including riot police, fire and prison services attended. Some detainees have been relocated.
