A large section of branch from an ancient alder tree cut by a tree surgeon working with the National Eviction Team falls into the river Colne close to environmental activists from HS2 Rebellion trying to protect the tree from destruction in connection with works for the HS2 high-speed rail link in Denham Country Park. 2020 is the Year of the Tree. The Metropolitan Police, Thames Valley Police, City of London Police and Hampshire Police were in attendance to enable HS2 to remove the tree.

The activists, who are predominantly teenage and who are opposed to the controversial HS2 high-speed rail link, had been arrested whilst standing on a bridge on a public footpath in Denham Country Park by police officers using powers under the Trade Union and Labour Relations Act 1992.
