Environmental activists foil HS2 work in Denham Country Park, Denham, UK

A section of the river Colne across which a Bailey bridge is expected to be constructed imminently as part of works for the HS2 high-speed rail link. On one bank is a wetland nature reserve forming part of a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation (SMI) and the site also features at least one tree of special interest. Associated works are expected to include the felling of 200 trees and the construction of compounds, fencing and a parking area.
