Stephanie Lightfoot-Bennett, twin sister of Leon Patterson, addresses fellow campaigners from the United Families & Friends Campaign (UFFC) outside Downing Street following their annual procession in remembrance of family members and friends who died in police custody, in prison, in immigration detention or in secure psychiatric hospitals. Leon Patterson died in November 1992 after spending a week in custody at Stockport police station. There have been 1,838 deaths in police custody or otherwise following contact with the police in England and Wales since 1990.
