Petros Elia, co-founder of the United Voices of the World (UVW) trade union, addresses low-paid migrant Royal Parks attendants and cleaners outsourced via Vinci and belonging to UVW during a coordinated series of ‘five strikes in one day’ involving also cleaners from the Ministry of Justice, University of Greenwich café workers, cleaners, porters and caterers from St Mary’s Hospital Paddington and cleaners from the Channel 4 and ITV offices in Gray’s Inn Road. The Royal Parks attendants and cleaners are seeking a pay rise from £8.21ph to the London Living Wage of £10.55 ph, occupational sick pay and statutory holiday.
