Sarah Green of Save Colne Valley and a child record the measurements and location of a 11.6m-wide ancient alder tree in an area designated for the HS2 high-speed rail link next to the river Colne in Denham Country Park. Planned works in the immediate vicinity are believed to include the felling of 200 trees and the construction of a roadway, Bailey bridge, compounds, fencing and a parking area. The far side of the river lies within a wetland nature reserve adjacent to a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation (SMI).
