Prosper Kaba (c) and Nkama Lumuanganu (r), the father and mother of Chris Kaba, stand outside Downing Street following the annual United Families & Friends Campaign (UFFC) procession in remembrance of family members and friends who died in police custody, in prison, in immigration detention or in secure psychiatric hospitals. Chris Kaba, 24, who was not a police suspect, was shot dead by a police firearms officer in a residential road in Streatham on 5 September 2022. There have been 1,838 deaths in police custody or otherwise following contact with the police in England and Wales since 1990.
