Sean Rigg, 40, died on 21 August 2008 while in police custody at Brixton police station. Mark Duggan, 29, was shot dead by Metropolitan Police officers in Tottenham on 4 August 2011. There have been 1,838 deaths in police custody or otherwise following contact with the police in England and Wales since 1990.
