Activists from BP or not BP? pose for a group shot after blocking access to the National Portrait Gallery in protest against BP’s sponsorship of the BP Portrait Award. The energy company has sponsored the National Portrait Gallery’s award for 30 years, but its high-profile involvement is attracting widespread criticism due to the intensifying focus on environmental issues. A number of artists, including previous award winners such as Wim Heldens and Craig Wiley, have called on the gallery to end its sponsorship by BP.
