London, UK. 5th June, 2021. Newham Labour Councillor Councillor Suga Thekkeppurayil addresses environmental activists and local residents protesting against the construction of the Silvertown Tunnel. Campaigners opposed to the controversial new £2bn road link across the River Thames from the Tidal Basin Roundabout in Silvertown to Greenwich Peninsula argue that it is incompatible with the UK's climate change commitments because it will attract more traffic and so also increased congestion and air pollution to the most polluted borough of London.
