London, UK. 14th December, 2024. Supporters of the London Renters Union march through central London to a branch of Foxtons estate agent to demand rent controls across the UK.
Other demands made by the London Renters Union include monitored good standards for rental properties, indefinite tenancies, safe and secure temporary accommodation as part of a clear path to a permanent home, an end to discrimination in access to housing and an end to right to buy with councils funded to build and renovate good quality public housing for all those in need.
According to Zoopla, rents have increased by 27% in the UK since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic and are now rising fastest in cheaper areas.
