London, UK. 14th May, 2024. Students from LSE Student Union Palestine Society first hold a press conference and rally to launch their 'divestment report' entitled "Assets in Apartheid", which examines the LSE's investment portfolio and in particular its investments in arms companies linked to Israel, companies linked to Israeli settlements and companies investing in fossil fuels, and then occupy the ground floor of the LSE's administrative Marshall Building, setting up an encampment there. The students are calling on the LSE to divest from what they term its 'egregious activities'. Students at universities around the UK are staging occupations to apply pressure on their study institutions to end academic partnerships with and divest from Israel as part of an ongoing global student uprising which began at universities in the United States.
