London, UK. 21st April, 2024. London Marathon 2024. Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir of Kenya won the women's race in a women's only world-record time of 2:16:16, with second-placed Tigst Assefa of Ethiopia, third-placed Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya and fourth-placed Megertu Alemu of Ethiopia also beating the previous women's only record of 2:17:01 set by Mary Keitany in 2017. Alexander Mutiso Munyao of Kenya won the men's race in 2:04:01, with Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia second and Emile Cairess of Great Britain third in 2:06:46 making him the second-fastest British man of all-time over this distance.
