London, UK. 19 January, 2023. Campaigners from Fuel Poverty Action, the National Pensioners Convention, Don't Pay and other groups hold a rally outside Parliament and then slow-march with a coffin to Downing Street to mourn those killed last year by fuel poverty. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), there were 13,400 excess winter deaths last year, of which around one third were due to cold and damp homes. The campaigners also delivered a letter to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak calling for immediate action to end fuel poverty.
