London, UK. 29th October, 2022. The United Families & Friends Campaign (UFFC) hold their annual procession to Downing Street in remembrance of family members and friends who died in police custody, in prison, in immigration detention or in secure psychiatric hospitals. Speeches were made by relatives of family members in Trafalgar Square and outside Downing Street and Chris Kaba's mother and father, as well as Carole Duggan, were interviewed in Downing Street after letters had been presented at the door of No. 10 on behalf of UFFC by relatives of Chris Kaba, Oladeji Omishore, Mouayed Bashir, Jack Susianta, Matthew Leahy, Mark Duggan and Leon Patterson. UFFC was established in 1997 as a support network of black families but now includes the families and friends of people from varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds. There have been 1,838 deaths in police custody or otherwise following contact with the police in England and Wales since 1990 (Inquest). Families continue to demand the truth and justice for the deaths of their loved ones.
