2021-09-27 Insulate Britain block M25 at Heathrow

47 images Created 27 Sep 2021

Colnbrook, UK. 27th September, 2021. Insulate Britain climate activists defy a High Court injunction by blocking a slip road from the M25 at Junction 14 (nr Heathrow), causing tailbacks on the motorway, as part of a campaign intended to push the UK government to make significant legislative change to start lowering emissions. The activists are demanding that the government immediately promises both to fully fund and ensure the insulation of all social housing in Britain by 2025 and to produce within four months a legally binding national plan to fully fund and ensure the full low-energy and low-carbon whole-house retrofit, with no externalised costs, of all homes in Britain by 2030. Insulating the UK's draughty housing would assist with tackling climate emissions whilst also reducing fuel poverty and improving public health. The Metropolitan Police make 53 arrests.
