2021-09-21 Insulate Britain block both carriageways of M25

76 images Created 21 Sep 2021

Ockham, UK. 21st September, 2021. Insulate Britain climate activists block both carriageways of the M25 between Junctions 9 and 10 - first clockwise and then anticlockwise - as part of a campaign intended to push the UK government to make significant legislative change to start lowering emissions. The activists are demanding that the government immediately promises both to fully fund and ensure the insulation of all social housing in Britain by 2025 and to produce within four months a legally binding national plan to fully fund and ensure the full low-energy and low-carbon whole-house retrofit, with no externalised costs, of all homes in Britain by 2030. Surrey Police quickly drag the activists off the motorway, including some who appeared to be fastened with glue to the clockwise carriageway, before making at least 38 arrests.
