2nd September, 2021. Extinction Rebellion climate activists march from the Tate Modern into the City of London and then block the junction in front of the Bank of England on the eleventh day of their Impossible Rebellion protests. They ask to speak to the Governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey. Over 50 activists wear signs indicating that they are breaking restrictive bail conditions by entering the City of London, some of whom dressed for court. Following an assembly lasting several hours, the activists, including the bail-breakers, march back across the river Thames using London Bridge. Extinction Rebellion are calling on the UK government to cease all new fossil fuel investment with immediate effect.
