2021-07-20 NHSPay15 petition to 10 Downing Street

51 images Created 23 Jul 2021

London, UK. 20th July, 2021. NHS workers from the grassroots #NHSPay15 campaign present a petition signed by over 800,000 people calling for a 15% pay rise for NHS workers at 10 Downing Street, accompanied by former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and Labour MPs Lloyd Russell-Moyle and Ian Byrne. They were also supported by Labour MPs Dawn Butler, Jon Trickett and Richard Burgon and Labour London Assembly Member Dr Onkar Sahota at a rally outside Parliament beforehand. At the time of presentation of the petition, the government was believed to be preparing to offer NHS workers a 3% pay rise in 'recognition of the unique impact of the pandemic on the NHS'. Health unions have warned that a 3% offer would be rejected and so would be likely to ballot for strike action.
