Aylesbury Vale, UK. 1st October, 2020. National Eviction Team bailiffs working on behalf of HS2 Ltd, facilitated by police officers from Thames Valley Police, commence the eviction of anti-HS2 activists from a wildlife protection camp established several months ago in the ancient woodland which inspired Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox at Jones’ Hill Wood. Around 40 environmental activists and local residents, some of whom living in makeshift tree houses 60 feet above the ground, were present during the evictions at Jones’ Hill Wood which has served as one of several protest camps set up along the route of the £106bn HS2 high-speed rail link in order to resist the controversial infrastructure project. A local farmer arrived late in the day to seek clarification as to why a fence was being erected across his field.
