2020-09-08 HS2 Rebellion Denham Protection Camp

12 images Created 8 Sep 2020

Denham, UK. 8th September, 2020. A female activist from HS2 Rebellion climbs a tree positioned between a compound used by contractors working on behalf of HS2 Ltd to fell trees and the river Colne in order to prevent its felling by a tree surgeon working with the National Eviction Team as part of works connected with the HS2 high-speed rail link. The tree surgeon had removed limbs from the same tree on the previous day. HS2 security workers and the National Eviction Team formed a ring round the tree and blocked the bank of the river in order to prevent other activists providing assistance to her. She was later persuaded to descend from the tree on the basis of an undertaking by the National Eviction Team not to fell the tree.
