Harefield, UK. 31st July, 2020. Environmental activists in period costume from groups opposed to the HS2 high-speed rail link re-stage a historical visit by Queen Elizabeth I to Dews Farm. In retracing the steps of Queen Elizabeth I from St Mary’s church to Dews Farm in 1602, the activists intended to pay their respects to Anne and Ron Ryall, aged 73 and 72, on the day of the compulsory purchase of their property by HS2. Dews Farm has been in Ron Ryall’s family for sixty years and he spent ten years and his life savings on renovating it and turning it into their £1m dream home. About 200m from Dews Farm the activists found their path blocked by HS2 fences and security guards.
