Wendover, UK. 17th July, 2020. Environmental activists from groups including Stop HS2 and HS2 Rebellion continue to protest against the HS2 high-speed rail link, primarily on environmental and economic grounds, from a series of wildlife protection camps along the route. Wendover Active Resistance Camp is now well-established, with fruit and vegetables being cultivated on site, a pizza oven and shower facilities, as well as a wide variety of structures including tree houses. HS2 is currently projected to cost £106bn and will remain a net contributor to CO2 emissions during its projected 120-year lifespan.
