  • Chelmsford, UK. 6th February, 2019. The Stansted 15 stand outside Chelmsford Crown Court before sentencing. They were convicted on 10th December of an anti-terrorism offence under the Aviation and Maritime Security Act 1990 following non-violent direct action to try to prevent a Home Office deportation flight carrying precarious migrants to Nigeria, Ghana and Sierra Leone from taking off from Stansted airport in March 2017.

  • Windsor, UK. 31st January, 2019. A soldier trains in foggy conditions alongside the Long Walk in Windsor Great Park. There are two barracks in Windsor, the Victoria Barracks which currently houses the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards and the Combermere Barracks which houses the Household Cavalry Regiment. Freezing fog patches are expected to clear slowly in south-east England during the morning, to be followed by cloud, sleet and snow in the east.

Thousands of people march through central London on the March Against Racism demonstration on UN Anti-Racism Day against a background of increasing far-right activism around the world and a terror attack yesterday on two mosques in New Zealand by a far-right extremist which left 49 people dead and another 48 injured.

Protest subverts highlighting Pride’s origins as a protest and some of the contradictions and compromises involved in today’s Pride have been placed along the route and at locations around London by Lesbians and Gays Support The Migrants and The Outside Project, the UK's first LGBTIQ+ crisis/homeless shelter and community centre.

  • London, UK. 15th February, 2019. Students march along Whitehall during the YouthStrike4Climate for Climate Day which was attended by thousands of young people. Strike events involving schools all over the UK were organised by UK Student Climate Network and the UK Youth Climate Coalition to demand that the Government declare a climate emergency and take positive steps to address the climate crisis, including highlighting the issue as part of the school curriculum, as well as lowering the voting age to 16.

  • London, UK. 7 September, 2019. A very young child holding onto his mother is distressed as Metropolitan Police officers attempt to force back activists blocking the road in front of a truck attempting to deliver to ExCel London during the sixth day of Stop The Arms Fair protests against DSEI, the world’s largest arms fair. The sixth day of protests was billed as a Festival of Resistance and included performances, entertainment for children and workshops as well as activities intended to disrupt deliveries to ExCel London for the arms fair.

Tom Watson MP, Deputy Leader, arrives at Labour Party HQ for an NEC meeting to discuss important selection issues, including whether to lift Chris Williamson’s suspension and whether Keith Vaz and Stephen Hepburn should be reinstated for the general election on December 12th.

  • Southall, UK. 27th April 2019. Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell joins members of the local community and supporters on a march through Southall to honour the memories of Gurdip Singh Chaggar and Blair Peach on the 40th anniversary of their deaths. Gurdip Singh Chaggar, a young Asian boy, was the victim of a racially motivated attack whilst Blair Peach, a teacher, was killed by the Metropolitan Police’s Special Patrol Group during a peaceful march against a National Front demonstration.

  • London, UK. 20 December, 2019. Jane Tothill and Syd Tothill Junior, grandchildren of Syd Tothill, pose in front of Syd’s Coffee Stall, which has been run by three generations of the same family on the corner of Shoreditch High Street and Calvert Avenue since 1919, immediately before it was closed for business. The mahogany coffee stall, which has been run by Jane Tothill for thirty years, will go on display in the new Museum of London in Smithfield in 2024.

Climate campaigners from Extinction Rebellion, some of whom had walked from as far away as Land’s End, take part in the last leg of the Earth March from Richmond to Hyde Park to join the forthcoming ‘International Rebellion UK - Shut Down London!’ event to call on the Government to take urgent action to address climate change.

The Global Climate Strike grew out of the Fridays for Future movement and is organised in the UK by the UK Student Climate Network.

  • Slough, UK. 28th April 2019. Sikhs demonstrate martial arts skills during the Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan procession. Vaisakhi is the holiest day in the Sikh calendar, a harvest festival marking the creation of the community of initiated Sikhs known as the Khalsa.

Catering, security, postal, porter and cleaning staff belonging to the PCS trade union and outsourced to work at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) via contractors ISS World and Aramark stand on the picket line outside the Government department after walking out on an indefinite strike for the London Living Wage, terms and conditions comparable to the civil servants they work alongside and an end to outsourcing.
