London, UK. 20 September, 2019. Tens of thousands of students and climate campaigners attend the second Global Climate Strike in protest against a lack of urgent action by the UK Government to combat the global climate crisis. The Global Climate Strike grew out of the Fridays for Future movement and is organised in the UK by the UK Student Climate Network. Students attended a rally at Millbank in Westminster, where they listened to speakers including Caroline Lucas, Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, and Leader of the Opposition Jeremy Corbyn, before marching around Westminster and blocking traffic on Lambeth Bridge. The Metropolitan Police had imposed conditions under Section 14 of the Public Order Act 1986 confining any assembly to Millbank and Abingdon Street and requiring any such assembly to conclude by 15.30. Students occupying Lambeth Bridge were issued with warnings under Section 14 and police officers used force to disperse some of them.
