London, UK. 6 July, 2019. Activists from Lesbians and Gays Support The Migrants, African Rainbow Family, the Outside Project, Micro Rainbow, Streets Kitchen and other LGBT+ groups rally in Regents Park before marching to Portland Place and storming a cordon quickly formed in front of them by Pride stewards in order to try to prevent them from joining the Pride in London parade. Barriers were also placed in front of them by Pride in London stewards but a police officer instructed that they be removed. Access having been gained and following a few loud choruses of 'Let Us March!', the activists, preceded by lines of stewards and police officers, were permitted to march along the same route behind the main parade in solidarity with those for whom Pride in London is inaccessible and in protest against its increasing corporatisation. Pride has its origins in protest and the gay rights movement is usually traced back to the Stonewall riots in 1969.
