Luton, UK. 15 June, 2019. Luton Borough Council holds a People’s Launch of its ‘People Power Passion’ programme of events for its Pilot Year of Culture, celebrating the creativity, vibrancy and diversity of Luton. 2019 marks 100 years since the Luton Peace Day riots and the programme will explore the themes of those riots and their impact on the people and places of the town. The council’s strategy for the arts, cultural and creative industries includes plans for a bid to be named UK City of Culture in 2025.
