London, UK. 1 June, 2019. Members of United Voices of the World (UVW), a grassroots trade union representing mainly migrant workers, supported by the Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB) trade union, protest inside and outside the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in solidarity with Dalia Quinonez Guerrero, a cleaner who worked at the hotel through an outsourced agency run by Betty Ferro for six months but from whom some wages were withheld.
The protest was originally arranged to take place outside Chanel but arrangements were changed by United Voices of the World yesterday following a major victory for the trade union when the global fashion chain agreed to pay cleaners at its stores the London Living Wage.
