London, UK. 1st May, 2019. Climate protesters attending a Declare A Climate Emergency Now demonstration in Parliament Square celebrate the passing without a vote of a motion in the House of Commons to declare an environment and climate emergency tabled by Leader of the Opposition Jeremy Corbyn. The motion does not legally compel the Government to act. The demonstration was addressed by politicians and activists, some of whom have long spoken out on climate change such as Green Party MP Caroline Lucas, War on Want executive director Asad Rehman and climate change lawyer Farhana Yamin, by representatives of influential lobby groups such as Global Justice Now and UK Student Climate Network and by the Leader of the Opposition Jeremy Corbyn.
