London, UK. 23rd April 2019. Climate change activists from Extinction Rebellion march from Marble Arch to Parliament Square to hold a People's Assembly opposite Parliament, where Members of Parliament had just reconvened following the Easter recess. The Extinction Rebellion activists wrote letters regarding the issue of climate change to their Members of Parliament and decided to exercise their right to request meetings with their MPs by in some way delivering the letters to Parliament. When it proved difficult to make arrangements to do so, the activists decided to take their letters to deliver them to Parliament, whereupon large numbers of Metropolitan Police officers were deployed to prevent this, forming a cordon to block them. After a standoff, Jenny Jones succeeded in arranging for ten of the activists to deliver letters to Parliament.
