2019-01-22 Joint MoJ & BEIS outsourced workers strike

London, UK. 22nd January, 2019. Receptionists, security staff and cleaners at the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), contracted to OCS and represented by the United Voices of the World (UVW) trade union, and support staff at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), contracted to Engie and Aramark and represented by the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union, begin a co-ordinated strike for the London Living Wage of £10.55 per hour and parity of sick pay and annual leave allowance with civil servants. It is the first co-ordinated strike between a TUC-affiliated and a non-TUC-affiliated trade union and the first co-ordinated strike between outsourced workers in Government departments.
