London, UK. 23rd September 2015. Bailiffs evict housing activists who had occupied properties on the 142-home Sweets Way housing estate in Whetstone to highlight the need for better social housing provision in London and to hinder the planned demolition and redevelopment of the estate by Barnet Council and developer Annington Property Ltd. In some cases, the activists had refurbished properties intentionally destroyed by the legal owners following eviction of the original residents so as to make reoccupation impossible. In one area of the estate, activists built barricades and occupied rooftops in a display of solidarity intended to obstruct the eviction of the estate's last remaining resident, Mostafa Aliverdipour.
