London, UK. 23rd March, 2023. James Denny (l), a parent from Reading who works with schools to enable children to experience more arts and culture, and former teacher Amanda Bentham (r) maintain a vigil outside the offices of Ofsted following the handing in of a National Education Union (NEU) petition at the Department for Education calling for urgent reform of the school inspection system and the replacement of Ofsted. The petition, which was signed by 52,000 people, had been started before Ruth Perry, head teacher at Caversham Primary School in Reading, took her own life while waiting for an Ofsted report.
